As you may have heard, Dublin Bay (and solstice yarn too!) is moving to Montana on April 15th! Yes, my parents have finally convinced me. This past summer while visiting them, I stumbled upon a lovely little plot that was for sale. After much consideration, (and some life events that included our building’s sale and my grandmother’s untimely passing), I decided to forego a 5-year lease extension and see if that little plot was still for sale. It was, and my offer was accepted before I could blink.
We are sad to leave Portland, but so excited to embark upon a new adventure. Dublin Bay will be re-opening this summer in a temporary space in… wait for it… Anaconda, Montana. It’s a sweet little town with no yarn shop, can you imagine? And I have an opportunity to build exactly what I want and have people pay me rent! It should be noted that the nearest Starbucks is over thirty minutes away and there is no food delivery, so please, please send Chinese food because I’m not sure how I’ll live! I know I am leaving you in good hands as there are many amazing yarn shops in Portland. I’ve been fortunate to get to know many of the other shop owners through the Rose City Yarn Crawl, and I hope to still be involved in some capacity. Maybe someone will want a solstice yarn pop-up shop or trunk show next year, who knows?
Speaking of yarn crawl, if you want it, the crawl is the time to get it! Orders are rolling in daily, and we’ll be fully stocked! After the crawl, we’ll be amending our hours and closed on Mondays. We’ll also scale back on orders and lessons as we prepare for the big move.
In the meantime, our online store is OPEN and will stay open. We’ve got a snazzy new website (with a few quirky kinks to be ironed out), and though my dad doesn’t know it yet, I’m taking over his office to process orders.
Dublin Bay and solstice yarn have enjoyed a wonderful 12 years in Portland, and we look forward to many more in Montana. We hope you’ll visit us before we go, and of course, you are cordially invited to visit the new shop in Anaconda. We’ll keep you posted on our progress on our website, Facebook, and Instagram!
